The Sandy Springs Mayor and City Council adopted the new Development Code and Zoning Map during their August 15, 2017 meeting and it became effective September 15, 2017. The approval brings to a close the two-year, Next Ten planning process updating the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Development Code.

Technical Manual

Work on the development code began late 2016 and continued through summer 2017, including a series of open houses, stakeholder meetings, drop-in hours at city hall, surveys, as well as emailed input from both residential and business property owners.  

Character Area Map Amendment

Mayor and Council will discuss the first amendment to the Character Area Map, adopted in February, at their regular meeting on November 21, 2017, starting at 6:00pm.

The Character Area Map is intended to implement the Comprehensive Plan and guide the Zoning Map.

The public is invited to review the following documents and provide comments via email ( or in person at the meeting.
