What are the most important safety notes?

1. Please stay off the retaining walls located along the parade route.

2. Do not stand, lean-on, or prop anything along the wooden fences in the park.

3. No drones, No pets, No bicycles.

4. Lanterns: Only LED battery are powered lights allowed. No fire, and no flying lanterns.

How long is the parade route? Can I bring my kids?

The Lantern Parade is a family-friendly event. The parade route is 0.7 miles long (downhill). It is a walking parade, so good walking shoes are a must. After the event, there are shuttles to bring you back (uphill) to parking.

Will there be bathrooms?

Bathrooms will be available at the Shuttle Parking Lot, Steel Canyon Golf Club, and Morgan Falls Overlook Park. Trash cans are also available at Overlook Park. Please do your part to keep the park clean and ready for play the next day.

Where can I view the parade? 

You can bring folding chairs & blankets to watch the parade. The parade fills up the entire road, so watchers should remain on the sidewalk. For your safety, please do not sit or climb on the retaining walls along the route. If you’d like to view the parade from Overlook Park, you can walk your stuff down and take the shuttle back to the shuttle parking lot at the end of the event. Can I bring my dog?

We love our fur-babies, but this is a people parade. For the safety of both pets and people, we ask that you leave your pets at home. Service animals are permitted.

Can I bring my bike?

There will be a lot of people on the parade route. For safety reasons, no bikes on the parade route.

Can I fly my drone?

Drones are not permitted.

Is the parade route wheelchair accessible?

The parade route is approx. 0.7 miles down a hill, so the parade route is not guaranteed to be wheelchair accessible. 

Are medical personnel present?

Yes! Members of Sandy Springs Fire and Police will be located throughout the event. In the event of an emergency, please call 911.

Can I set up a table to sell or promote?

No outside vendors are permitted.

Is Morgan Falls Overlook Park closed for the parade?

The park will be CLOSED THE ENTIRE DAY on Saturday, April 13 for the event. Unauthorized vehicles left in the park are subject to be towed.

What do I need to know about Road Closures & traffic? 

Morgan Falls Road, after the entrance to the Adair Apartment Complex, will be CLOSED THE ENTIRE DAY on Saturday, April 13.

Morgan Falls Road, after the entrance to the Morgan Falls Athletic Fields, will be CLOSED beginning at 5:00 p.m.

If you live along Morgan Falls Road, please turn on your flashers. This will notify Police that you are a resident, and they will allow you to pass the road closure. If you do NOT live along Morgan Falls Rd, you will be turned around at the Athletic Fields. Only residential traffic will be allowed. 

BEGINNING AT 8:15 P.M., ALL TRAFFIC will be held while the parade marches to Overlook Park.

Morgan Falls Rd to the Adair Apartment Complex will reopen at approximately 9:00 p.m. Morgan Falls Road to Overlook Park will remain closed until the event is over, approximately 11:00 p.m.  

What happens if it rains?

How many people do you think will attend this year’s Lantern Parade?

We don’t know for sure, but we are planning for large numbers. Last year, we were joined by thousands of new friends!
