Know Before You Go

  • đźš— Parking: For everyone’s safety, cars are not allowed near the parade route. Please park at 7840 Roswell Road, then take the shuttle or walk to the Pre-Parade Party (0.4 miles, approximately a 10-minute walk).
  • 🗺️ Parade Route: The parade steps off from the Pre-Parade Party at the Sandy Springs Municipal Complex, travels along Morgan Falls Road, and ends at Morgan Falls Overlook Park. The parade route is 1 mile and downhill.
  • ⏰ Schedule: The parade takes place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, with festivities beginning at 6:00 p.m. Learn more about the Pre-Parade Party . The Pre-Parade Party runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Parade line-up begins at 8:00 p.m., and step-off begins at 8:30 p.m.
  • 🚍 Shuttles: Shuttles run between parking and the Pre-Parade Party until parade line-up from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. After parade step-off, shuttles only run from Morgan Falls Overlook Park back to parking from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Note: If you stay for the parade, plan to walk to Overlook Park or back to parking.
  • 🎨 Lanterns: Learn how to create your lantern before the parade. Note: Only LED battery-powered lights are allowed. Fire and flying lanterns are prohibited.
  • đźš» Restrooms: Restrooms are located at the parking area, Pre-Parade Party, and Morgan Falls Overlook Park. There are no restrooms along the parade route.

What are the most important safety notes?

  • Please stay off the retaining walls located along the parade route.
  • Do not stand, lean on, or place items on the wooden fences in the park.
  • No drones, pets, or bicycles are permitted.
  • Only LED battery-powered lights are allowed in lanterns. Fire and flying lanterns are prohibited.

What happens if it rains?

Where are the restrooms?

Restrooms are located at the parking area, Pre-Parade Party, and Morgan Falls Overlook Park. There are no restrooms along the parade route.

How long is the parade route?

The Lantern Parade is a family-friendly event. The parade route is 1 mile long and downhill. Because it is a walking parade, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

After the event, shuttles are available to transport attendees uphill back to the parking area.

Where can I view the parade?

You may bring folding chairs and blankets to watch the parade.

The parade fills the entire roadway, so spectators should remain on the sidewalk.

For your safety, please do not sit or climb on the retaining walls along the route.

If you would like to view the parade from Morgan Falls Overlook Park, you may walk your belongings down and take the shuttle back to the parking area at 7840 Roswell Road after the event.

Is Morgan Falls Road or Morgan Falls Overlook Park closed?

Can I bring my dog?

Pets are not permitted at the parade for the safety of attendees and animals. Service animals are permitted.

Can I bring other items?

  • No Drones: Drones are not permitted.
  • No Bicycles: Bicycles are not permitted on the parade route because of large crowds.
  • No Pets: Service animals are permitted.

Is the parade route wheelchair accessible?

The parade route is approximately 1 mile downhill. Portions of the route may present accessibility challenges for wheelchair users.

Are medical personnel present?

Yes. Members of Sandy Springs Fire and Police will be located throughout the event. In the event of an emergency, call 911.

Can I set up a table to sell or promote items?

No outside vendors are permitted.
