The City of Sandy Springs invites the community to learn more about an upcoming intersection improvement project designed to enhance safety for both motorists and pedestrians. The proposed upgrades will involve realigning the intersection of Mount Vernon Highway and Long Island Drive and installing a new traffic signal.
When: Thursday, October 17, 2024
5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Where: Sandy Springs City Hall
Barfield Conference Room (2nd Floor)
1 Galambos Way
Sandy Springs, GA 30328
Background:
Currently, the alignment of the Mount Vernon Highway and Long Island Drive intersection limits sight distance for those turning onto Mount Vernon Highway from Long Island Drive. The project will address this by installing a new traffic signal, widening the roadway, realigning the Arlington Cemetery Driveway, and adding new sidewalks. Additional improvements include upgraded striping and signage, right-of-way acquisition, and utility coordination. This project will also connect with the recently completed Mount Vernon Highway sidewalk Improvements.
