The City of Sandy Springs is proudly expanding Veterans Park to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. In collaboration with the Sandy Springs Foundation, the City invites the community to contribute to this enduring tribute through the purchase of personalized pavers, park benches, two iconic sculptures, and general contributions. For more information on how to get involved, visit spr.gs/veterans. To have pavers engraved by this Veterans Day, please place your order by September 30.
“The City of Sandy Springs is home to countless veterans, and Veterans Park represents the gratitude our community feels toward those men and women,” said Mayor Rusty Paul. “This initiative marks the first campaign for the Sandy Springs Foundation, and it is deeply meaningful to support this commemorative park for those who have served selflessly.”
Located at the intersection of Roswell Road, Johnson Ferry Road, and Mt. Vernon Highway, Veterans Park was inaugurated by the City on Veterans Day in 2023. To further honor the sacrifices of our veterans, the City has commissioned two stunning sculptures for the park. The first, titled Be the Light, is a 30-foot-tall steel creation by Curtis Pittman. The second sculpture, Three Generations, is designed by Kevin Chambers. Once installed, these collaborative sculptures will serve as powerful symbols of gratitude for veterans living and working in Sandy Springs as well as the surrounding community, offering inspiration for future generations. The Sandy Springs Foundation is actively fundraising for the installation of these remarkable art pieces.
In addition to the sculptures, Veterans Park will feature war memorial plaques representing major global conflicts and a plaque for each branch of the armed forces. Surrounding these memorials will be benches thoughtfully designed for visitors to relax and reflect amidst the park’s water features, sculptures, and memorials. Personalized pavers of various sizes will also be installed, allowing individuals to honor veterans with engraved messages. To ensure pavers are engraved in time for the November 11 Veterans Day celebration, orders must be completed by September 30.
