The City of Sandy Springs has partnered with Everbridge, a mass notification software, to power Sandy Springs Alerts. Those who register will receive notices about critical events such as severe weather, power outages and other concerns related to safety of those in Sandy Springs. To sign up, visit Spr.gs/Alerts or download the Everbridge app in the Apple Store or on Google Play.
Residents who have previously registered for Sandy Springs Alerts via Smart 911 will need to complete their Everbridge profile and select notification preferences in the new Everbridge system. They can also choose how they’d like to receive notifications, whether through a text message, phone call or email. Smart 911 alerts will be in place through August 14.
This switch allows the city to use the Everbridge’s ever-growing database, which is now more than 71,000, to contact residents for all imminent life-threatening situations. For other emergency alerts, the city will be able to use its local registration list.
“With every emergency situation, it’s imperative that we get residents the information they need in a timely and effective manner,” said Sandy Springs City Manager Eden Freeman. “Our updated emergency alert system enables those residents to customize their notification preferences.”
