As temperatures begin to drop, the City of Sandy Springs is thrilled to announce a lineup of fall events designed to engage families—and their furry family members.
Paws and Pastries kicks off the festivities on October 19 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Morgan Falls Overlook Park. This year, due to ongoing improvements at the Morgan Falls Dog Park, the event will be held at the green space near the pavilion in Overlook Park. Pup parents are invited to bring their dogs for an afternoon of socializing, fetching, and tasty treats, capped off with a dog costume contest starting at 12:30 p.m. Contestants can compete in three categories: small (under 25 lbs.), medium (25-60 lbs.), and large (60 lbs. +).
Later that day, the City will host its first-ever OktoberFEAST at City Springs, transforming City Green into a Bavarian celebration. Attendees can enjoy traditional cuisine, live music from the Swinging Bavarians and Auf Geht’s, polka lessons, and a selection of German beers for those 21 and over. This free event runs from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on both October 19 and 20, with food and beverages available for purchase.
The month wraps up with the City’s annual Spooky Springs event on Saturday, October 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Abernathy Greenway Playable Art Park. This free, family-friendly celebration features trick-or-treating, face painting, live music, and delicious offerings from food trucks including Dogs on Wheels, Qn2 BBQ, and Three Tikis (Hawaiian shaved ice). Fog machines will enhance the festive atmosphere as families don their favorite costumes to partake in Halloween’s cherished tradition of trick-or-treating.
