Roberts Drive Multi-Use Side Path

Project Description:

The proposed project would construct approximately 2.2 miles of shared use side path along the south side of Roberts Drive, from Dunwoody Place to Roswell Drive. The project is planned for two phases.

Phase 1 will begin at Dunwoody Place, traveling north to the new Roberts Drive bridge over State Route 400. Phase 1 will continue past the bridge, to a midblock crossing near Summer Crossing.

Phase 2 will begin at the midblock crossing, and travel north to Roswell Road.

The goal of the project is to create a safer and more comfortable walking and biking environment, increasing connectivity to parks and greenspace within Sandy Springs.

Project History

Roberts Drive Scoping Report

Existing sidewalks are predominately adjacent to developed residential and commercial areas. Many gaps exist within the sidewalk network, leaving pedestrians to travel on the shoulders of the roadway in many locations.

The Roberts Drive corridor is primarily residential, scattered with some single-family homes, and multi-family townhomes, and apartment complexes.

The corridor has commercial areas, fronting Roswell Road. The southern end, where it meets with Dunwoody Place, is primarily single-story office buildings.
