You can easily create a lantern at home, by starting with a Make-A-Lantern Kit!

Beginning April 4, Make-A-Lantern Kits will be available at Steel Canyon Golf Club (460 Morgan Falls Rd) and Ace Hardware (1316 Dunwoody Village Pkwy).

In addition, kits will be available for purchase at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center (Studio Theatre Lobby, 1 Galambos Way) during the workshops on Saturday, April 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The following kits are available for purchase:

• Everybody Lantern Puppets - $25
• Flying Pig Lanterns - $25
• Flying Piglet Lanterns - $15
• Little Butterfly Lantern Puppets - $15
• Accordion Lanterns - $7

Why Flying Pigs? If you make a Flying Pig lantern, you get to march in the front of the parade with Sanderson the Flying Pig! The idea for Sanderson the Flying Pig came from Sandy Springs’ effort to incorporate in 2005, when some believed that Sandy Springs would become a city “when pigs fly.” When the parade starts to line up, go to the front of the line and look for Sanderson.
